BALD ARCHYS 12th - 28th November 2010

The highly popular and hilariously irreverent Bald Archy Prize exhibition will come to Cootamundra for the first time later this year.

Peter Batey OAM, the Founder/Director of the notorious event which lampoons the more staid Archibald Prize with satirical portraits of Australian identities, announced the exciting news in Canberra at the weekend, where the brand new 2010 exhibition is a major feature of the National Multicultural Festival.

The Cootamundra showing in November at the Arts Centre finalises a three State tour that includes Sydney, Adelaide and Melbourne along with a number of regional centres including Brewarrina and Bowral.

"The Cootamundra showing is the only one in this region," Mr Batey said, "and should attract many visitors, particularly from Wagga Wagga where there are many thousands of fans."

'This year's exhibition is particularly entertaining," he said, "and is already breaking attendance records at the Watson Arts Centre with Canberrans packing into the gallery even after just a few days."

The winner of this year's $5,000 prize will be announced at the ABC Ultimo Centre in Sydney on, appropriately enough, April Fool's Day.
